Shy Girls, featuring Marmoset's very own Dan Vidmar, will be performing this Tuesday night at Bunk Bar. For three bucks you can enjoy their synth heavy, laid back electro sound that the Willie Week recently called the "Most Mysterious" band at this year's PDX Pop Now festival. Give it a listen here: Do It Like This by Shy Girls
Tomorrow night, Friday February 10th at Bunk Bar in Portland, be sure not to miss the SXSW Portland Party Fundraiser with live performances by Priory and Norman. The fun starts at 9:30pm and Marmoset Music is a proud sponsor, teaming up with Octopus Entertainment, Tender Loving Empire, Eleven Magazine, A to Z Media, House Spirits Distillery, Tixie, and others.
There will specialty drinks at cheap prices (thank you House Spirits Distillery!) and pints of Lagunitas and/or Deschutes for $3 each. Admission is free, although we're asking for at least a $5 donation at the door. Proceeds from the drink specials, beer and the door will all go to help fun the FIRST EVER official all Portland party at SXSW.
What's this about an all Portland Party at SXSW? Yep, it's true... We're breaking barriers and cliques as a variety of different groups are joining together for a combined event, which will rage all day and all night on Wednesday, March 14th on 6th Street in Austin at SXSW. While the final line-up is still not finalized, PDX bands joining forces in Austin include Talkdemonic, Y La Bamba, Ramona Falls, The Parson Red Heads, Lost Lander, AU, Radiation City, Archeology, Aan, Norman, Priory, Violet Isle, No Kind of Rider, Tango Alpha Tango, and more.
The big challenge of an endeavor such as this are the costs involved of hosting a venue and the event and getting the word out. The good news is we've already got a handful of incredibly supportive sponsors on board and we've raised more than half of what we need. So to help get us there, we're throwing this little fundraiser show to give our PDX community a chance to really get involved and help send us off to Austin with authority and pride.
