Education is important to us and we believe that educational resources should be available to everyone. That's why we're humbled to host this show in benefit for the St. Andrews Nativity School — Oregon's only tuition-free middle school for students who live at or below the poverty line.
Located in NE Portland, just off 9th and Alberta, the school draws students of all kinds around the Portland area and features small class sizes, giving the individualized attention necessary to raise student's learning by as much as 5 grade levels in only three years. It's rather amazing.
The bottom line measure of success you should know is that ninety-four percent (94%) of these students go on to graduate from high school and eighty percent (80%) go on to graduate from college. And in most cases, these children are the first of their family to accomplish either milestone. Furthermore, what these children go on to do and accomplish beyond college is the stuff dreams are made of.
The school is 100% scholarship based, meaning all tuition, costs, and related needs are completely taken care of for the student and their family. For many of these children, it's the education equivalent to winning the lottery.
Eric D. Johnson (EDJ) is an renowned songwriter who has a wealth of amazing and impactful music under his belt. Touring around the world and performing in bands including The Shins, Eric is a seasoned player who's music will grab you and never let go. Watch him performing at Instrument.
This is going to be quite the night. As you already know, the Blazers playoff game will also be that evening. So come watch it wish us on our theater-sized screen at our studio! We'll have plenty of seating. Co-Founder Ryan Wines will be also be in attendance to answer any burning questions you may have about what we do.
Doors are at 7:00PM. We're sponsoring two pairs of tickets to this event to the first people that tweet, message and/or comment on this post with a story of their favorite education experience. Excited to hear from you.
