Music + Picture // UHURU tells a tale of sustainability with their furniture

Screen Shot 2014-06-12 at 3.16.31 PM.png

In celebration of their 10th year in making unique furniture from found wood. The gents at UHURU reflect on their humble beginnings and how they built their business, one chair at a time.

Based in Brooklyn, founders Jason Hovarth and Bill Hilgendorf take material that was once rejected and reuse them to create something beautiful. Based on the philosophy of environmental sustainability, their contemporary designs have found themselves in esteemed locations such as the Smithsonian and the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

At the core, UHURU creates pieces of art. Taking something that was once discarded and putting it into a different context, telling a different story.

Supported by the empowering original score "Celestial South," in a great collaboration with our buds at Rock*it Films, check out their inspiring story below.
