MY MIND IS TELLING ME NO. BUT MY BODY...MY BODY IS TELLING ME YES!
Anyone who's been to Marmoset's space in SE Industrial Portland knows that we probably have the most romantic mood lighting and inviting atmosphere in all of Stumptown. So it was no surprise to us when R. Kelly stopped by the Marmoset headquarters on his recent tour through Rip City. Of course, Cristal was popped, foosball was played, and booties were shaken as we all bonded with the R&B superstar over a shared failure to see anything wrong with a little bump n' grind. In fact, the night ended with a late-night instrumental jam session to his 1994 number one hit, "Bump n' Grind," which we fortunately were able to record with the help of Chilly Willy's Shure SM57 microphone...and an Irish flute.
So most of this story didn't really happen...but Marmoset Intern Will Mehigan aka Chilly Willy really did cover the '94 R&B hit. 100% arranged, recorded and produced in his home studio - his bedroom. It lies in a genre we like to call "Steamy Elevator."
Turn it up in your headphones.
