It's that time of year again. One of our two beloved weekly newspapers, The Willamette Week, has released their Best New Bands 2011. This means Portland's music insiders have chosen their top P-town artists and bands and have compiled them in a tidy list for everyone to review and pick apart. Considering Portland's affection of rooting for the obscure, it's not surprising most of these acts probably aren't on your radar...yet. Don't let this deter you though. If you look close enough, you'll find some good stuff here. Some that get a big thumbs up from Marmoset HQ include And And And, Ages and Ages, Kelli Schaeffer (MM artist), and Old Light. In fact, Brian Hall's fave is this cut from Purple and Green... stealing a few tricks out of Prince's playbook.
